The earliest record we have of a member of the Button Family is for John Button who was probably born about 1760-1770. When he died about 1812 he was described in his will as John Button of Maidenhead Court Aldersgate Street in the City of London Porter. They continued to live in London until John's great grandson Henry John Button who was a solicitor's clerk moved first to Maldon (Essex) and then to Needham Market (Suffolk).

Most of the members on the family tree are therefore either from London or Suffolk.
