The Holt, Haigh, Hebblethwaite and Ingle Family Connection (with Bairstow and Whiteley)

This family tree of John Holt shows the inter-marriage of his descendants. More detail is given below.

The first connection

Martha Holt, a daughter of John Holt and Mary Holdsworth, married Charles Haigh on 12th November 1821.

Elizabeth Holt,  another daughter of John Holt and Mary Holdsworth, married James Ingle on 6th January 1823

Charles and Martha Haigh had a daughter Elizabeth Ann Haigh - baptised on 11th June 1826

James and Elizabeth Ingle had a son Thomas Ingle - baptised on 11th February 1825

Thomas Ingle married his cousin Elizabeth Ann Haigh in 1850. (the pink family connection on the accompanying family tree chart) They had a daughter Martha Ann Ingle who was born 12th October, 1853 at 32 Darley Street, Bradford. Thomas and Elizabeth were living at 32 Darley Street in the 1851 census.

By the 1861 census it appears that Thomas was dead and Martha Ann was living with her Grandfather Charles Haigh in Southowram. Elizabeth (Ann) appears to be living at the Woolpack Inn, Halifax as a Bar Maid for her Uncle John Holt - she is described as a widow of 30 (she was nearer 35 but ages are not necessarily that accurate)

The second connection

Sarah Holt, a daughter of John Holt and Mary Holdsworth, married William Hebblethwaite on 27th December, 1813

Elizabeth Holt, another daughter of John Holt and Mary Holdsworth, married James Ingle on 6th January, 1823

William and Sarah Holdsworth had a daughter Mary Hebblethwaite born 1819.

James and Elizabeth Ingle had a son William Ingle - baptised 24th August 1823

William Ingle married Mary Hebblethwaite - 19th August 1847 (the blue family connection on the accompanying family tree chart) . In 1851 they were living with William's mother Elizabeth at the Rawson Arms Inn in Bradford. William and Mary did not have any children (at least none found) and William died in 1854.

Mary subsequently married George Thomas Cheetham in 1873.

The Third Connection

Fanny Holt, a daughter of John Holt and Mary Holdsworth married Luke Haigh -13th January 1822.

Mary Holt, another daughter of John Holt and Mary Holdsworth married James Whiteley - 3rd March 1822

Luke and Fanny Haigh had a daughter Louisa Haigh - baptised 13th May 1828

James and Mary Whiteley had a son James Holt Whiteley - baptised 74th March 1824

James Holt Whiteley and Louisa Haigh were married 19th February 1852 (the green family connection on the accompanying family tree chart). In 1861 they were living in Prescott Place, Halifax with their son Holt Whiteley (b. 1858) and Martha Bairstow (servant and a first cousin once removed).

Louisa Whiteley died in 1863.

James Holt Whiteley and Martha Bairstow were married 21st November 1867 (the pale yellow family connection on the accompanying family tree chart). In 1871 they were living at 6 The Crescent, Hipperholme with their daughter Lilly Ellen Whiteley (aged 7).

 

The Fourth Connection

Joseph Holt, a son of John Holt and Mary Holdsworth, married Harriet Morton - 17th December, 1831

Martha Holt, a daughter of John Holt and Mary Holdsworth, married Charles Haigh on 12th November 1821.

Joseph and Harriet Holt had a daughter Mary Holt - baptised 1st March 1835

Charles and Martha Haigh had a son William Haigh - baptised 13th May 1832

William Haigh married Mary Holt - 17th February 1857 (the olive green family connection on the accompanying family tree chart). In 1861 they were living at Dale Cottage, North Bierley with their son Joseph Holt Haigh (aged 3).
